The self titled album “Dalgazul” is the first and only recording of the dynamic world music ensemble. As can be heard from the album, Dalgazul weaves together vibrant traditions from across the globe into a unique sound.
At the heart of the group’s sound is violinist Funda Arslan, whose Turkish roots shine through in her distinctive approach to composition and improvisation, blending modal melodies with expressive ornamentation. And guitarist Pablo Moreno infuses the group with Latin soul, drawing on his Chilean heritage to bring warmth and rhythmic flair to both his solos and accompaniments.
On piano, Alberto Diaz channels the spirit of Cuba, layering rich comping patterns and infectious grooves with effortless elegance. American bassist Russell Snyder anchors the group with a strong jazz sensibility, crafting fluid bass lines and solos that bridge genres with ease. Percussionist Jakob Hoffman, hailing from Germany, brings extraordinary depth and authenticity to the rhythm section. Through years of immersive study, he has become one of the country’s finest world percussionists, capable of seamlessly navigating Afro-Cuban, Middle Eastern, and Latin traditions.
Together, the group creates a borderless soundscape—bold, sophisticated, and deeply rooted in cultural dialogue.
